Here at Shareable.net, we’ve explored the design of public spaces like restaurants, cafes, offices, parks, and more. But what about public restrooms?

In the first video of a two-part series for Dwell magazine, New York–based firm Smart Design examines the intersection between Universal Design principles (which help to build spaces accessible to the disabled) and the limitations of public bathrooms:

“Instead of ‘Restrooms are for customers only,’ the signs should be ‘Restrooms are for everyone.'” We like that!
